Background

Dick Clark Cinema Productions is a division of Dick Clark Productions that produces TV movies and feature films. They were around from the late 1970's to mid 1980's.

1st Logo (1978-1980)


Visuals: On a black background, there is the forming of a line in the center. At the same time, a strange shape forms on top of the line, almost forming the infinity symbol. The image appears to be an Avant Garde font "d" and "c" joined together. The name "dick clark motion pictures, inc." or "dick clark cinema productions, inc." appears below.

Variants:

  • On Birth of The Beatles, the logo lacks text.
  • On Elvis, the logo is magenta.

Technique: 2D animation.

Audio: The closing theme of the show/movie.

Availability: Was used for TV movies produced by Dick Clark Motion Pictures. Appeared on the TV movies Elvis, The Man in the Santa Claus Suit, and Birth of The Beatles.

2nd Logo (1983)

Visuals: On a white background, there is a stylized black "DC" cut-out containing two rectangular outlines and a horizontal line within the inner-most rectangle. Underneath it is "Dick Clark Cinema Productions Inc."

Technique: A still, printed image.

Audio: The ending theme of the movie.

Availability: Unknown. [Examples?]

3rd Logo (1980s)

Visuals: Same as the 1983 Dick Clark Productions logo, but underneath the "dc" it reads "a dick clark motion picture."

Technique: Same as the 1983 DCP logo.

Audio: The second music theme from the 1983 DCP logo.

Availability: It was seen on later prints of Elvis.
