Background

This is the production company of Darren Star.

1st Logo (July 8, 1992-March 30, 1998)

Visuals: There is an old test card, with a drawing of a Native American on the top of the circle of the center. Under it is an orange oval, with the words "D A R R E N S T A R", with the "D" in "D A R R E N" and the "R" in "S T A R" being larger. Under it is a horizontal line, and below that is the word "P R O D U C T I O N S".

Technique: A still image.

Audio: The ending theme of Melrose Place.

Availability: It can be seen on the first six seasons of Melrose Place.

2nd Logo (September 13, 1995-June 28, 1996)

Visuals: On a starry background that zooms forwards, an abstract school bus yellow ring is seen close up on the screen. It slowly zooms out and turns to the right as a black rectangle with a dark blue outline slides in from the left side of the screen and a dark blue rectangle slides in from the right side of the screen. The black rectangle has the dark blue text "DARREN STAR" while the dark blue rectangle has the cut-out text "P R O D U C T I O N S". The black rectangle goes through the ring, turning "STAR" school bus yellow. The brightest star in the background flashes.

Technique: 2D animation.

Audio: The theme of Central Park West that continues to the CBS Productions logo while original airings have the generic theme.

Availability: It can be only seen on Central Park West.

3rd Logo (June 6, 1998-)

Visuals: On a black background are 3 sticks (which look similar to the Screen Gems "Dancing Sticks" logo from 1963), one in white, one in dark teal, and one in Air Force blue, connected to look like an "X". Next to it is the text "darren star productions" in white.

Variant: Starting in 2017, the font was changed.

Technique: A still image.

Audio: A cheery bell tune. In other cases, the ending theme would play over the logo or silent.

Audio Variants:

  • Starting in 2006 with Runaway, a new theme was introduced.
  • On the HD remaster of Sex and the City, the last note echoes into the remaster credits.

Availability: Seen on Sex and the City, Kitchen Confidential, Runaway, Miss Match, GCB, Younger, and Emily in Paris. Also seen on the unsold pilot of Manchild.
