Cloud Nineteen

From the Audiovisual Identity Database, the motion graphics museum

1st Logo (September 7, 2004)

Visuals: On a blue background with changing clouds, a rotating object spins into the screen with the number 19. The words CLOUD NINETEEN form from left to right. After the logo stops, a code background appears over the logo. The text shines as well.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A whirring tune followed by a few beeping sounds.

Availability: Seen only at the end of the MGM DVD release of Bookies.

2nd Logo (2005-2009)

Visuals: On a white background, it fades into the spinning Cloud Nineteen logo. It is also invisible on a cloudy grey background. The camera starts moving to the right and after it stops slowly spinning, underneath the Cloud Nineteen text, it says "DVD", "Motion", "Sound" and "Edit", and after that the logo fades onto a white background with the zoomed out logo. On top of the Cloud Nineteen logo it says "Menu Design, Music Composition, & Authoring Has Been Provided By", and below it is the address "3767 Overland Ave. #104 Los Angeles, California 90034". Below the address is the phone number 310.839.5400 and the url "www.cloud19.com" is down below.

Variants:

  • On a few DVDs, the logo starts off as usual but after its completed, instead of fading to a white background with a still version of the logo, it fades quickly into a black background with the still shot of the zoomed out logo. Above it reads "DVD Production Provided By" and down below is the url. This was used from 2006 until 2009.
  • Another variant still has the logo starting off as usual but just as its completed, the "DVD", "Motion", "Sound" and "Edit" are colored green instead of white. It then fades into the still logo in the black background without the url below.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A rising synth tune with whooshes

Availability:

  • The first variant was seen at the end of the Lionsgate DVD releases of The Five People You Meet in Heaven, Category 6: Day of Destruction, Earthsea, and A Christmas Carol: The Musical.
  • The second variant was seen at the end of Lionsgate DVD releases such as In the Mix, Retribution (2006), Voices, Bait Shop, Rain of Fire, Soldier Blue, Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred, and Dancing with the Stars: Cardio Dance, as well as the Magnolia Home Entertainment releases of District B13 and Diary of a Tired Black Man.

3rd Logo (2009-Late 2010s?)

Visuals: The Cloud Nineteen logo zooms in to a moving cloud background. The "19" on the logo's circle rotates quickly and says "DVD". After that it quickly rotates back to "19" as "Cloud Nineteen" fades out into the url "Cloud 19.com".

Variant: On Blu-ray releases (such as the 2015 Lionsgate Producer's Cut Blu-ray of Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers) and depending on the format, when the circle rotates, it says "Blu-ray" instead of "DVD".

Technique: CGI.

Availability: Seen at the end of Lionsgate releases, such as Fertile Ground, Fred 2: Night of the Living Fred, The Big Wedding, and Norm of the North. It is also seen at the end of some Magnolia Home Entertainment releases, such as The Great Buck Howard.
