Background

Chrysalis Entertainment was the British entertainment division of Chrysalis TV Group that was formed from a merger of various Chrysalis-operated production companies Watchmaker, Assembly and Tandem. It became Chrysalis Television Midlands by 2002, and was later absorbed into North One Television.

1st Logo (May 14, 2001-May 21, 2002)

Visuals: Over a white background is the standard Chrysalis logo in blue, and on the right side is the word "entertainment" in orange and in the same font as the Chrysalis logo, with "e" in a larger font that was on the "y" of "Chrysalis". Behind it was a large invisible "e". A copyright date is shown below.

Variant: On The Toon Commandments, this logo shares the screen with the 1999 Channel 4 "Square" logo.

Technique: A still digital graphic.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on Sam's Game and Series 3 of the ITV documentary series The Unforgettable.

2nd Logo (April 8-September 24, 2002)

Visuals: Over a light blue background is the Chrysalis logo of that time, but the word "Chrysalis" is in black, and the word "Entertainment" is in the same colour as the previous logo and appears underneath the word. Behind the background is the white version of the butterfly from the Chrysalis logo.

Variant: This logo may also often share the screen with other logos (including the 1997 BBC and 1999 Channel 4 "Square" logos).

Technique: A still digital graphic.

Audio: None.

Availability:

  • Like the previous logo, it had an even shorter lifespan and a very low output of titles which rarely see exposure on home media.
  • It was seen on Jeremy Clarkson Meet the Neighbors and The Showbiz Set, as well as on very early Fifth Gear episodes.
