Background

Celeris, Inc. is a video game company best known for its Virtual Pool series. It was founded in 1987 by Stephen Chaplin in Chatworth, California.

1st Logo (December 3, 1993)

Visuals: On an orange background, a dark cyan circle with three bars cut through it (having a striking resemblance to the Touchstone Pictures logo) stretches from the center. A few seconds later, the symbol zooms out, followed by the company name and the shape itself with no fill inside a white box to zoom out and reveal itself. The dark cyan ball returns from the right, sliding and filling the company name in black and then stopping at where the transparent shape is. Lastly, the text "presents" wipes in underneath.

Variant: On the title sequence for FlixMix, the logo, with it inside a white box with a black outline and the ball now in turqoise, fades in underneath the logo for said game.

Technique: Sprite-based animation.

Audio: A dramatic medieval-like fanfare at the beginning, followed by twinkling and several ascending and descending chimes.

Availability: Only seen on FlixMix.

2nd Logo (1995-July 17, 1996)

Visuals: On a gray background with light on the near-center right, a 3D version of the same logo with the symbol in turqoise and the text in light sky blue, is slightly facing to the right. To the bottom right is the text "V3DX" with the V and X in green stripes and "3D" in blue, horizontally warped and beveled.

Technique: A still, computerized graphic.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on Virtual Pool and Virtual Snooker.

3rd Logo (November 20, 1997)

Visuals: On a royal blue background, the ball in the same color as before is more spherical and behind the beveled "C" in "Celeris". A turqoise light is also placed behind the "i"'s dot.

Technique: A still, computerized graphic.

Audio: None.

Availability: Only seen on Virtual Pool 2.

4th Logo (December 17, 1998-May 11, 2005?)

Visuals: Similar as before except the ball is purely blue, the text is in white and a different font, the background is dark blue, and the light behind the "i" is a lot more dim. A trademark symbol was also added next to the company name.

Variants:

  • On Virtual Pool 64, the background and the light behind the "i" are brighter and the trademark symbol is to the top right of the "s".
  • On Virtual Pool 3, the logo is against a black background.

Technique: A still, computerized graphic.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on the third, N64, and Hall installments of Virtual Pool This logo does not appear on the more recent Virtual Pool titles such as Virtual Pool 4.
