Boom Video

From the Audiovisual Identity Database, the motion graphics museum

1st (known) Logo (1989-1994)

Visuals: On a black background, a horizontal bar in the middle expands to reveal clips of various movies (albeit black and white and washed-up), a triangular ghost with a devious expression and something red in his mouth peeks in from the bottom-left corner, backs away a little and peeks out, then he peeks in from the top-right corner and peeks out again. Finally, the ghost flies in from the top-left corner to the center of the screen, swirling around, to reveal that he's holding and nibbling a red square with "BOOM" with two O's conjoined in a Venn diagram-like formation at the bottom and a white banner with "VIDEO" at the top-right corner, all inside the square, and zooms in a little bit. The ghost then fades out and an orange scrolling warning text in a serif font starts, and the movie clips background wipes out with a barn door transition, ending the logo.

Technique: Live-action and chyron effects.

Audio: A suspenseful nature-like tune that lasts for 52 seconds.

Availability: Seen on old Polish VHS tapes.

2nd Logo (1994-1999)

Visuals: On a white background, there is what appears to be clouds scrolling across the screen, as many colorful shapes of different shape and color fly around the screen. After a bit, a red square scrolls across the screen, before return from the bottom of the screen. As that happens, it gets fully revealed and the shapes disappear as the ghost from before flies in and rests in front of the square. The square then fades to the front of the ghost and the text "BOOM" appears in the same way as before. The screen then flashes and copyright information scrolls up.

Technique: CGI and chyron effects.

Audio: An upbeat synth tune.

Availability: Seen on later releases.
