Background

Blue Ant Media is a Canadian broadcasting, media, and television production company that was formed in 2011 by Michael MacMillan. On December 22, 2011, Torstar acquired a minority stake in the company.

Logo (May 4, 2011-)


Visuals: On a turquoise background, four circles fly in from each corner of the screen and merge together. Two smaller circles pop out of the bigger one's sides, becoming turquoise while flying and shrinking into the shape while a tiny ellipse zooms in from the center. Together, they are vertically aligned with the bottom circle the biggest. Simultaneously, the text "PRODUCED BY" and the stacked company name and copyright info "BLUE ANT media (year in Roman numerals)" fades in on top and underneath the circle respectively.

Variants:

  • The copyright info can vary on some programs. It can also be removed sometimes.
    • On Extreme Africa, it reads "BLUE ANT MEDIA SOLUTIONS INC., MMXV".
    • Programs co-produced with HDTV Productions has it read "BLUE ANT HDTV PRODUCTIONS INC. (year in Roman numerals)".
    • The copyright info on Gary and His Demons reads "©BLUE ANT MEDIA PRODCO INC. MMXVIII".
  • Sometimes, a vignette is added.
  • This logo may sometimes transition to the Blue Ant International logo where "PRODUCED BY" flips over to read "DISTRIBUTED BY" while the copyright info fades out. Following this, "media" turns over to now read "international".
  • In some cases, the top text reads "PRODUCED IN ASSOCIATION WITH"
  • On Nomads of the Serengeti, the text reads:

with "a" is above the circle symbol.

  • On Gary and His Demons, the logo is smaller.
  • An in-credit logo has the logo in blue inside a white box.
  • A compressed variant exists where the text in all lowercase is white and the symbol is dark blue.
  • One show has the logo much smaller than usual with the text "Produced in Association with Blue Ant Media" above.
  • On Doomlands, the print logo is in blue and above the Look Mom! Productions logo.
  • On Weekend Reno, the print logo is blue and the circles inside the larger ellipse are white, the background is black, and it uses the aforementioned "IAW" notice but with regular capitalization.

Technique: Fairly simple 2D animation.

Audio: None or the ending theme of the program.

Availability:

  • Seen on many Canadian documentaries, reality shows and home improvement shows from the 2010's and onwards. These include Restaurants on the Edge, Weekend Reno, Post My Party, among others.
  • It was also seen on modern printings as well as Dabl airings of Design Inc., Sarah's Holiday Party, Dirty Business, and Room Service.
  • The vignette variant was seen on Undiscovered Vistas and Best Cake Wins.
  • Shows that has the logo transition to the Blue Ant International logo include Gary and His Demons and Secret Life of the Wombat, among others.
