Background

Bitmasters is a video game developer formed in the 1990s by Fran Lanzinger and Dave O'Riva. The first game the company has developed was Krazy Kreatures for the NES, but no logo was used until 1992.



1st Logo (January 1992)

Visuals: On a black background, there is the word "Bitmasters" in a white fancy font, and below it is a series of numbers of "0"s and "1"s. The text and the numbers are is surrounded by grey shadows.

Variants:

  • On the NES version of Rampart, the word "RAMPART CONVERSION BY" is shown above the logo in grey, and below it is the credits.
  • On the DOS version of Rampart, the word "Conversion By" is above the logo, and it was placed on the game's opening sequence.

Availability: Seen on the NES and DOS versions of Rampart.

2nd Logo (August 1992)

Visuals: On a black background, there is an image spins around and zooms in, which reveals to be three-eye symbols on top and bottom (which makes up a total of six), with a red dot in the middle of the eye. Between two eyes is a yellow-green gradient square, with the Bitmasters logo from the previous logo, with a group of repeating blue shadows. The logo then zooms out and spins away.

Technique: Sprite-based animation.

Audio: The opening theme of the game.

Availability: Seen on the SNES version of Rampart.

3rd Logo (October 1993)


Visuals: On a zooming space background, there is the pink pieces of the text "BITMASTERS" in a strange, unusual font, sliding up. It flashes and the space background inverts, before going back to normal, and the Bitmasters logo fades back in. The word "A" and "GAME" appear above the logo, and a series of "0"s and "1"s numbers rotate and spin through the left of the Bitmasters logo.

Variant: On the Game Boy version, the logo is still and it lacks the numbers. Plus, the text is in white.

Technique: Sprite-based animation.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on the NES and Game Boy versions of Championship Pool.

4th Logo (November 1993)

Visuals: On a black background full of grey wallpapers of the numbers "0"s and "1"s, and a group of multicolored "0"s and "1"s, in red, green and blue that scrolls toward the direction, there is the word "BITMASTERS" in a grey-white gradient with a 3D teal outline, with a "TM" symbol on the top right, which is sliding up from the right. The wallpapers continue to scroll.

Technique: Sprite-based animation.

Audio: The opening theme of the game.

Availability: Seen on the SNES and Genesis versions of Championship Pool.

5th Logo (February 16, 1994-1995)

Visuals: On a black background, there is the blue wireframe outline of a curvy word "BITMASTERS" and the "TM" symbol, which stands next to the word, draws in, emitting white outlines, and it shines. The logo flashes, becoming the 3D rainbow colored word "BITMASTERS" and the "TM" symbol turns white. A reflection then fades in below the name and the trademark symbol.

Variants:

  • On the SNES version of Primal Rage, after the name turns to rainbow, it flashes to red, before becoming the name.
  • On the SNES version of NCAA Final Four Basketball, a basketball bounces toward the middle of the logo, then it falls off to the right at the trademark symbol.

Availability: Seen on NCAA Final Four Basketball for SNES and Genesis, and the SNES version of Primal Rage.
