Background

The Binder-Ravier Entertainment Company was formed in 1983 by producer/director Steve Binder (who previously had his own production company), entrepreneur Claude Ravier and manager Rick Bernstein, with BRB Productions (aka BRB Entertainment) and BRB Management as its own production companies. It was later renamed in 1987 to Binder Entertainment.

Logo (May 14, 1984-March 27, 1987)

Visuals: On a gray background, a logo materializes from the top down, as if being "drawn" in. It is a series of segmented lines in the form of two "B's" with an "R" as a kind of "hole" between them. The lines are (from top to bottom) shades of red, purple, blue, and green. Diagonal white lines appear above and below the logo, and below the lower line is the word "PRODUCTIONS".

Variants:

  • A still version exists where the logo is seen without "PRODUCTIONS", shorter lines, and is placed on a black background shifted upwards.
  • An in-credit version of the logo exists with the word "ENTERTAINMENT" instead of "PRODUCTIONS".
  • An early variant has the logo entirely in green on a gray background, with a chyroned copyright year in yellow below.

Technique: Computer animation.

Audio: A 6-note synth tune. Some episodes of Zoobilee Zoo had a twinkling sound effect which sounded like the 1986 Walt Disney Television/Buena Vista Television "Rainbow Castle" theme. In other cases, it's silent or the end theme may play over it.

Availability: Seen at the end of Zoobilee Zoo and the 1984 TV special Blondes vs. Brunettes. The green variant was recently found on the obscure music-video show ON The Air with Roger & Roger (which aired on the now-defunct OTA pay-TV service ON TV).
