Albatros (Japan)

From the Audiovisual Identity Database, the motion graphics museum

1st Logo (1991-2003)

Visuals: On a dark blue sky background, a blue "A" with the middle line covered by a white drawing of a bird with wings open, zooms out. The "A" then glows brightly, turning the logo in a shiny material. Below the logo, the yellow text "ALBATROS" in a serif font wipes in upwards. Black Japanese text then appears on the bottom-right side of the screen.

Technique: Cel animation.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on VHS tapes and DVDs of movies distributed by the company during the period, such as Crus and Object from the Deep Sea.

2nd Logo (2003-2010s)

Visuals: On a black background, a moving glass machine-like vortex is shown as an "A" is shown at the center segmented into three parts, which slowly separate. After a while, a light passes through the three parts of the "A" and then to the open areas of it, moving away to the right. A light then appears, with the drawing of the bird emerging in front of the "A". The word "ALBATROS" fades in below, the vortex fades out, and the whole logo fills in white.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A somber piano theme.

Availability: Seen on DVDs of movies distributed by the company during the period, such as Buried in the Womb.
