Welcome to AVIDProject Logos by Year! In this project, we aim to expand and work together to expand the "Logos By Year" lists. Currently, the biggest priority in this project is to create lists on years that currently have no page yet.

To join this project, you simply have to sign your username in the "/Members" tab and help out on expanding already existing lists either through adding logos, research debut dates, or reformat each list. The list of created pages are provided in the "Articles" section. If you wish to propose new ideas or changes to these lists or provide any feedback, visit this project's talk page. A member or yourself may add in your proposal in the "Proposed Ideas" section.

Goals

  1. Compile as many logos as possible, either documented or un-documented on the wiki, and add them into these lists.
  2. Research debut dates for logos that have an unknown release date.
  3. Introduce readers and the community with previously undocumented/unknown logos.
  4. Provide editors with some information if they wish to create an article based on that logo.

To-Do List

  • Create the lists in reverse chronological order. (✓)
  • After the lists are created:
    • Research information on when a logo has debuted, either through validating or finding a new date.
    • Replace the placeholder images with captures of the logos.
    • Tab and move the sections into their own articles for convenient navigation. (✓)
    • Format the lists to categorize the mediums and nationalities of companies. (✓)

Tutorial

The main list consists of 13 sections (excluding the legend). The logos within these sections are arranged chronologically based on the specified month and period headers, while unknown dates are listed alphabetically. If you are adding a logo without a defined debut date, it should be placed in the "Unknown date" section. However, if only the month (and sometimes the period) is known, these logos should be moved to the bottom of the header's list and organized in the following order: Early, Mid, Late, Unknown. The "Unknown" category is reserved for dates where only the month is specified.

The way these lists are formatted are structed like this:

|-style="background-color:#(hex code)" (New row + background-color sets the row's fill)
| (The logo's image)
| (Company name)
| style="background-color:#f8f9fa"| (Where the date (excluding the year) goes)
| (The nationality of the company goes here)

Please note that not all the lists are not formatted like this, but will have mediums and nationalities implemented soon.

To define the logo's medium, add the following hex code to the first instance of "background-color". A table indicating these codes is provided below:

Code Medium Output
style="background-color:#FF5353" Movies Movies

There is one thing to note about these lists, with more to be added soon:

  • It does not matter if the logo has no article on this wiki. The lists accept all kinds of logos and idents.

This tutorial guide has provided you with a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. We hope this tutorial has been informative and useful, and we wish you luck on this project.
