Background

442oons is the production company of British animator Dean Stobbart, which specializes in creating football cartoons on YouTube. 442oons has partnered with multiple major organizations, such as Sky Sports, the Bundesliga, and Onefootball, among many others.

Logo (30 July 2013-22 January 2017; 31 October 2017, 7 March 2021)

Visuals: On a black background, the text "4-4-2oons" in a rounded font is seen in the top half of the screen, with a goal replacing the "n". As the logo shines, a football drops and bounces off the goal, braking it into a stylized "n". A disclaimer - stating the fictionality of the characters and events in the 442oons cartoons - is seen in the bottom half of the screen.

Variants:

  • An early animated version starts with the first half of the name appearing on a black-green gradient background. A football drops in from the right and when it touches the "2", the upper half of it doubles in a twinkle and moves like arms, while the ball bounces off its lower half, which constanly changes in size as if it actually "kicks" the ball. A goal zooms in to the right, then the animation suddenly slows down, then speeds back to normal as the "2" kicks the ball. The ball hits the goal's left post and breaks it into a stylized "n", then "oo" appears next to the "2", which the ball hits and has its upper half revert back to normal. The ball then rolls off to the right, revealing an "s" next to the goal.
    • On Pray for Moyes 2013, the logo appears outright in the black center of a snowy background.
  • Sometimes, the logo is seen with a co-producer's logo next to it. These include FREEbets, Sky Sports and Eurosport, among others.
  • On UEFA Champions League videos, the logo is seen on a blue background with the Champions League logo faintly seen behind.
    • This variant was also used once on a UEFA Europa League video (namely the Villarreal vs Liverpool match in 2016), only with a clear orange background.
  • In February 2015, the hyphens were removed from the name.
  • On most cartoons since April 2016, the logo is seen on a football pitch background (or a background packed with 442oons characters, as captured from Pray for Moyes 2015) with a handful of football caricatures in the forefront. These are: the trio of Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez and Neymar (commonly known as MSN), Mesut Özil (drawn as an E.T.-like alien), Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Thomas Müller.
    • Sometimes, the characters are animated: Özil holds up his glowing finger, Ronaldo performs his famous "SIUUU!" celebration, making Müller laugh at him, while Suárez looks over and smiles at it.
    • Later, the characters were updated with slightly more realistic proportions, along with a face redesign for both Messi and Neymar, Zlatan's kit changed from Paris Saint-Germain's to Manchester United's, and both Ronaldo and Müller holding their respective international trophies.
    • On Sahko's Fat Burners, the cast of characters is replaced by a caricature of Liverpool FC manager Jürgen Klopp patting then-Liverpool footaballer Adam Lallana (drawn as a llama with full clothing).
  • Starting with The Toure Chant in May 2016, the goal in the name is replaced with a regular "n", and the logo simply shines.
  • On some of the cartoons made at the time of Euro 2016, the logo shines with a red-blue glow.
  • On Footballers vs Zombies from 2014-2017, the logo is pixelated (full name without the goal "n").

Technique: 2D animation.

Audio: Either a bonk when the ball hits the goal, a crowd cheering, a whistle blow, or a mix of these.

Audio Variants:

  • The early animated version has a crowd cheering, an airhorn blow each time a letter appears, a whistle blow, and sounds of the ball in the first half. After the miss, the crowd starts to boo and a "fail" trumpet note plays. Dean Stobbart then says "4-4-2oons!"
  • Sometimes, the opening theme plays over the sounds.
  • On Zlatan and the Masters of the Europverse, the 1983 Filmation logo's audio is used.

Availability: Seen in the opening of most 442oons videos produced between August 2013 and January 2017.

  • The early animated version was seen on Luis Suarez Bite (both The Silence of the Lambs and Se7en parodies), Gareth Bale as Batman, and Juan Mata Song.
  • The last video to use an opening logo was Sterling Fouled? Foul or No Foul? After January 2017, the channel's videos contain no opening logos at all; however, the logo made a reappearance on Old Characters Meet New Characters: A 442oons Special.
