Background

Apparently based in Barcelona, Ópalo Films was founded in 1982 by a group of independent producers, and lasted until 1991. It produced both Spanish and Catalan language films.

Logo (October 4, 1983-July 5, 1991)

Visuals: On a moving space background, a red circle zooms out and stops in the middle of the screen. The camera zooms in towards the circle and stops when an animated star appears in the middle and "shines". It finally stops, forming an abstract, compass-like shape. Then in a white, sans-serif font, "UNA PRODUCCION" fades in above the logo, and then "ÓPALO FILMS" in a larger font fades in below, thus finishing it.

Technique: Traditional, limited 2D animation.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on films from the era such as El Pico, El Pico 2, Colegas, and Tahiti's Girl, among others.
