Background

Xenon Entertainment Group is a distribution company formed by S. Leigh Savidge in 1986. The company mostly specializes in releasing urban themed material and blaxploitation fare.

1st Logo (Late 1980s-1993?)

Visuals: On a black background, we see several red dots appear, forming a squiggly shape arranged to look like a triangle. The triangle zooms back with a trail of dots following suit and the white words "XENON" and "ENTERTAINMENT" zoom beneath the triangle, topping off each other. Finally, a golden triangular glow surrounds behind the triangle.

Variant: Sometimes, the stacked text "Presents a XENON HOME VIDEO Release" would follow the logo.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: A synth theme with some drum notes thrown in. It is actually the first few seconds of "1984" by David Bowie, but it's changed for the second half of the logo.

Availability: Seen on urban-oriented films and documentaries distributed by the company during the era. It may also be seen on the 1990 VHS of In Your Face: The First Black Superman (AKA: Abar, The First Black Superman).

2nd Logo (1993?-2003)

Visuals: We see the silver text "XENON ENTERTAINMENT GROUP" stacked on top of each other rotating towards the center of the screen. Once it does, a purple prism drops down and two white dashes slide in and intersect the prism at different positions each stopping when halfway through.

Variant: Sometimes the prism is pink instead.

Technique: 3D CGI.

Audio: A techno theme which abruptly ends when the prism appears. A low piano note is heard alongside some cymbal taps which continue to echo throughout the remainder of the logo.

Availability: Same as above. Also appears on a handful of Blaxploitation films starring Rudy Ray Moore, including Dolemite and Disco Godfather. It was also seen on the 1996 VHS release of The Kill-Off.

Xenon Pictures

(2000- )

Visuals: An explosion with purple flames occur on a black background. It reveals a revamped version of the prism from the second logo of the other company, and the words "XENON PICTURES", which are stacked on top of each other. The flame finally disappears, filling in the words with the purple flame and the prism with the purple color, but not the flame. After a while, the logo explodes.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Just the sound of the two explosions that occur in the logo, alongside the flame. At the last explosion, a loud bell is heard.

Availability: Seen on its current releases, starting with Uncle Saddam.
