Background

Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. is a prominent American publisher and developer of games, founded in 1993. They later acquired GameTek in 1997 and BMG Interactive in 1998, folding their publishing assets into the newly-created label Rockstar Games. Since 2005, the name Take-Two has been dropped from publishing and replaced with the 2K Games brand.

Visuals: On a white background, there are the words "TAKE 2", with a clapperboard under the number. Below are the words "INTERACTIVE SOFTWARE".

  • On the CD version of Bureau 13 and Hell: A Cyberpunk Thriller, the clapperboard is seen clapping.

4th Logo (July 26, 1996-July 1, 1999)


Visuals: On a black background, there is a flash of gold light from the bottom with water below, slowly revealing the logo similar to above (only with no clapperboard). After the logo is in place, the water fades out and the "TM" trademark symbol flashes in.

Variants:

  • On Space Station Silicon Valley, the logo is 3D and zooms out.
  • On Biosys, a copyright notice is seen below.
  • A short version exists.

Audio: A dramatic entry with humming and a single drumbeat.

Availability: Seen on Biosys, Dark Colony, the original Grand Theft Auto, and Alexi Lalas International Soccer. Also appears on Iron and Blood: Warriors of Ravenloft. The short version can be seen on Monkey Hero.

5th Logo (August 6, 1999-January 21, 2005)

Visuals: There is a "T" with a square "2" inside it. The name below reads like this: "TAKE2interactive".

Variants:

  • Some games have a still version of the logo.
  • A early version has the name written in two lines mostly on a black background.
  • On Action Bass, the logo fades in from white and the "T" is gold.
  • Another version, seen on Rune for PS2, shows the logo animated, in which the logo is created from a green electronic grid.

Visuals: Blue glass walls move around and form multiple "T"'s and "2"'s. They fold and become the logo with "T2" colored in blue and white. The name "TAKE TWO INTERACTIVE" is created below by a flash.

Trivia: This logo is based off the last Global Star Software logo from 2003 until it became 2K Play in late 2007.

Variant: A still version exists.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A crystallized soundtrack.

Availability: It was seen on Sacred and Emergency 4. The still version was spotted on the European release of DT Racer for PS2. Take-Two doesn't use their name in game publishing anymore, preferring to engage their more recognizable pocket labels Rockstar and 2K Games.
