Background

Sunflowers Interactive was a game developer and publisher founded in 1993 in Germany. On April 11, 2007, Ubisoft took over the company. Since 2008, the Sunflowers name seems to be unused.

1st Logo (1993-1996)

Logo: A box fades in with a thin green outline and a sunset island landscape inside. The letters of "SUNFLOWERS" begin to appear one-by-one, taking a lift in the medium part. As they finish, the logo becomes solid orange.

Technique: 2D animation.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Uncommon. Seen on Nectaris, Magic of Endoria, and Aufschwung Ost.

2nd Logo (1998-2006)

Logo: On the surface of the Sun, a flare emerges from it as the camera quickly zooms away from it. As it comes into full view, a disk flips from the bottom of the screen and stops in front of the Sun, making a solar eclipse. The disk then rotates forward, revealing that it's dark blue with an orange rim. It then takes up the whole screen, making the background dark blue. Rings then wipe in "SUNFLOWERS" in an orange gradient font, along with "the world of entertainment". The latter's rings rotate up in an arc, forming an abstract representation of the sun's outer rim with embers coming off the side, causing the text to turn white.

Variants:

  • On Knights of Honor, the logo just fades in, taking less place on the screen.
  • Early games have just a still logo on a blue background. There is also a semicircle below.
  • On early localizations of ParaWorld, the logo is still in a 3D button.
  • On Anno 1503/1503 A.D., the animation is shortened to the last seconds.

Technique: CGI.

Music/Sounds: A dramatic note consisting of a repeating pair of synth beats. Other sounds are heard at the end.

Availability: Seen on Holiday Island: Erweiterte Edition, TechnoMage: Return to Eternity, Anno 1503/1503 A.D., Anno 1602/1602 A.D. The still version is seen on Knights of Honor. During the first few years, a different logo design was used on box covers, but never in the games.

3rd Logo (September 15, 2006-2008)

Logo: The then-current Sunflowers logo written in blue fades in. The dot above the right side has six arcs over it, which resembles a sun.

Technique: 2D animation.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Seen on Anno 1701/1701 A.D. and ParaWorld.
