Background

Shaw Media was the television subsidiary of Canadian media company Shaw Communications, created in 2010. It was formed after the bankruptcy of CanWest, when Shaw acquired its broadcasting assets. On April 1, 2016, Corus Entertainment acquired Shaw Media for $2.65 billion.

1st Logo (2010-2013)

Logo: Many colored glass arcs pass the screen and leave the word "SHAW", which immediately re-appears zoomed out and makes a blue arc with "MEDIA" behind it. There may be "PRODUCED IN ASSOCIATION WITH" above.

Variant: A still version exists and one with copyright info reading: Shaw Media & Design is a trademark of Shaw Communications Inc. and used under license.

Technique: The arcs of light passing by.

Music/Sounds: The ending theme from the show.

Availability: Common.

  • Seen on Shaw Media shows from 2010-13, including these previously produced by CanWest Global Networks. Two of them are The Firm and Canadian Made.

2nd Logo (2012-March 31, 2016)

Logo: On a blue background, a white crescent zooms out, flashes, and "Shaw" in a new font comes out the side.

Variant: A still version exists.

Technique: The zooming, the flashing.

Music/Sounds: Same as the previous logo.

Availability: No longer current, but still common.

  • Seen on newer shows, such as Vikings and 2012-16 episodes of Border Security.
  • After Corus Entertainment acquired Shaw Media, this logo was retired and replaced by individual logos for the former Shaw Media channels (including the Global Original and HGTV Original logos) and the 2016 Corus Entertainment logo.
