(Redirected from Seven Network Productions)

1st Logo (1963-1970)

Visuals: On a black background, there is a white outlined map of Australia on a TV tube. Inside the map, there is the text "AUSTRALIAN TELEVISION NETWORK" with "PRESENTATION" below.

Technique: A still graphic.

Audio: None or the end theme of the show.

Availability: Unknown.

2nd Logo (1970-1987)

Visuals: Superimposed on the credits, there are the words:

FOR THE
7
NETWORK

in yellow and with the 7 surrounded by a circle.

Variants:

  • An earlier version of the logo has the logo in a Futura font.
  • Sometimes, the text is switched from upper case to lower case letters, the drop shadow also varies.
  • The logo could also sometimes be seen in orange or white.
  • On Against the Wind, there is text that reads "in association with the" and "NETWORK AUSTRALIA" in orange.
  • On Class of '74, it only shows the 7 Network logo.
  • On Bobby Dazzler, there is text similar to the one seen in Against the Wind, but the "AUSTRALIA" text is removed, the logo is in white.

Technique: A still graphic.

Audio: The end theme of the show.

Audio Variant: On The Naked Vicar Show, there is an announcer that says "The Naked Vicar Show is an RS Production for the Seven Network".

Availability: Shown on any show produced by the Seven Network at the time, such as Kingswood Country, the 1985 series of Neighbours, Sons and Daughters, Against the Wind and A Country Practice, which some shows used to rerun on the sister channel 7two.

3rd Logo (1987-1989)

Visuals: On a black background, there is a blue triangle with a star inside the triangle, with a line on the left. Below it, there is the text "AUSTRALIAN TELEVISION NETWORK" in a serif font.

Technique: A still graphic.

Audio: The end theme of the show.

Availability: Most Seven programmes don't use a logo of the period, only an in-credit disclaimer, though it can be seen on some episodes of Home and Away, as well as Press Your Luck and Beyond 2000.

4th Logo (1989-1991)

Visuals: On a black background, there is the text "Australian" in a Futura-like font, with the "A" being cut off by a star. Below it, there is the text "TELEVISION NETWORK" in a plain serif font.

Variants:

  • Sometimes, the logo is often shown in-credit.
  • An earlier version exists where the star is blue and the line is red.
  • On some shows, the text is in white.
  • On some shows like Now You See It, the star is red, while the rest of the logo is all white.

Technique: A still graphic.

Audio: The end theme of the show.

Availability: Seen on several Seven Network programmes of the era, like Fast Forward, Home and Away, Beyond 2000, Hey Dad!, Now You See It and Wheel of Fortune.

5th Logo (1991-1994)

Visuals: The same circle 7 from the 2nd logo appears, but with the "7" formed from two lines with the bottom of the "7" connecting to the bottom of the circle. "NETWORK" and then "AUSTRALIA" is shown below, set in the then-current corporate font for NBC, NBC Futura.

Trivia: This logo is based on the one used by Washington, D.C. based station, WJLA. Seven and NBC have had a partnership spanning back many years, which may explain why this logo uses NBC Futura.

Variants:

  • This logo exists in various colour combinations such as orange logo, brown background, white logo, black background, black logo, white background and black logo, blue background.

Technique: A still graphic.

Audio: None.

Availability:

  • Seen on shows during this era, replacing the prior Australian Television Network logo.
  • The in-credit logo can be found on Home & Away episodes from the time period (also available on 7Plus).
  • Also seen at the end of a Carlton TV airing of Home and Away.

6th Logo (1991-1994)

Visuals: Segueing from another logo or from a program's closing footage, the screen pans down to reveal the 1989 circle logo in a pastel orange in front of a background that is black with white stars (resembling a night sky), the middle in dark blue and the bottom strip in royal blue on a dark grey gradient floor. "SEVEN NETWORK" in an italicised font is shown below in tan.

Variant: On Fast Forward, it instead uses an in-credit logo.

Technique: A still graphic.

Audio: None.

Availability:

  • Seen on Seven Network shows of the time. [Examples?]
  • The animated logo is intact on 7Plus streaming prints of early Blue Heelers episodes, and on post-1991-1992 episode of Fast Forward and on 1993-1994 episodes of Full Frontal.
  • The in-credit logo can be seen on the earlier 1991 episodes of Fast Forward before using the animated logo.

7th Logo (1993-1994)

Visuals: On a dark blue gradient background, the same logo from the 2nd but with the circle logo in a shining dark orange and the text in white along with copyright underneath in the text's colour slowly zooms in before stopping when it gets large enough in view.

Variant: On A*mazing, the logo is still and on a black background.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: The closing theme along with a voiceover saying "[Name of show] is produced in conjunction with [name of production company] for the Seven Network".

Availability: It was only used briefly for a year being used in some shows such as Saturday Disney and A*mazing.

8th Logo (1994-1999)

Visuals: On a blue and black gradient background with a grey reflective floor, the camera zooms up to a glass box. A gold burst of light flies by and it quickly pans around and zooms out, forming the same logo from before, but in a bright orange. The logo and box shine a bit.

Variant: On a small number of shows, the copyright year appears below the logo.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A synth whoosh, followed by a quick chime sound. Otherwise, the end theme of the show plays over.

Availability:

  • Seen on Seven Network shows from during this period.
  • The logo is plastered on reruns of many Seven shows, though is intact on various programs from the era on 7Plus (Seven's catch up TV service), such as Blue Heelers, Home & Away, All Saints (Season 1), and Harry's Practice.
  • This logo is plastered on 2000 reruns of game shows, like Australian Gladiators, All Star Squares and Wipeout.

Legacy: A fine example of a 1990s CGI logo.

9th Logo (1999)

Visuals: On a black background, there is the Circle 7 from the previous logo with "in association with" above and "Network" below. A rainbow coloured line is shown under "Network". The URL is shown below. Then paint (varying from red, orange, yellow, green or blue to reflect the network's "The One to Watch" campaign at the time) pops up.

Variants:

  • On some shows, the URL is omitted.
  • A rare version exists where it only has the rainbow coloured line below the Seven logo and it has "network production" below the rainbow coloured line.

Technique: Presumably CGI.

Audio: A 4-note piano sounder accompanied by a double bass.

Availability:

  • Seen on programmes at the time produced by the Seven Network.
  • However, the logo is plastered on reruns of many Seven shows.
  • Despite this, Blue Heelers episodes from the time period have this intact on 7Plus.

Legacy: This logo was used shortly before Seven introduced their current "Ribbon 7" design, so it seems pointless to have even created this logo to begin with!

10th Logo (January 1, 2000-2001)

Visuals: On a white background, a multicoloured parallelogram appears in the centre. It then rolls out to form the then-new Seven ribbon logo with the world "network" next to it and "production" below in small letters. The network's URL then fades in underneath.

Variants:

  • On some shows, "in association with" is included above "network" while "production" is absent.
  • There is another version that also includes "in association with" but with "production" replaced with "Australia" and the URL omitted.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Same as the sixth logo.

Audio Variants:

  • On shows where this logo plasters the 8th logo, it reuses the whoosh and chime from that.
  • There is a modified version of the music where the piano is much deeper and has different instrumental accompaniments such as synthesizer and clarinet instead of the double bass where it has full instrumentation.

Availability: Used on programs aired since the network's rebranding on New Year's Day 2000.

11th Logo (2001-2002)

Visuals: On a black background, the "7" from before is positioned on the left,

in association with the
network
Australia

next to it, and the URL, "i7.com.au" is seen below. Then a miniature eye shines onto the "7", and then the "7" moves to the right while text beside it disappear. The eye moves up to make room for a multicoloured "i" to go next to the "7".

Trivia: i7 was the name of an online portal launched around the time Seven debuted the "ribbon" look. It presumably went defunct around 2003.

Variants:

  • Sometimes, "in association with" is replaced by "produced by".
  • "Australia" is sometimes omitted.
  • The URL might differ in a few shows, for example, the Saturday children's programming block used the URL "saturdaykids.i7.com.au".

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Two hits, followed by an ambient tune with a female chorus singing the letter "i".

Audio Variant: Some shows, like the Australian Wheel of Fortune, have the closing theme of the show.

Availability: Same as the previous logo.

12th Logo (2002-2003)

Visuals: There is a rainbow ribbon moving from the right of the screen. The ribbon then takes the shape of the logo from before. The word "productions" is seen in lowercase. A copyright stamp is seen below.

Variants:

  • There is a custom variant used on All Saints.
  • Sometimes, the copyright stamp is omitted, and "in association with" appears above the logo.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A futuristic synth stinger.

Availability: Seen on programs at the time.

Legacy: Same as the previous logo.

13th Logo (2002-2003)

Visuals: On a black background, the 5 men (from the network's "The One to Watch" campaign) are placing letters under the 7 ribbon logo at a very fast pace to form "productions" in white. After that, they gather around and speed towards the camera before applauding.

Technique: This was done via chroma-key.

Audio: A 4-note bass guitar along with cartoonish sound effects such as a fleeing sound as they move and place the letters very fast, a screeching sound when they all get together, one of the men making a whooping sound, and an applauding sound (the kind you'd hear from a studio audience).

Availability: Same, but used alternatively with the previous logo. Can currently be found on 7Plus copies of All Saints Season 5.

14th Logo (2002-2003)

Visuals: On a black background with a murky cloud, "in association with" appears in white. Then multicoloured streaks go around it before emitting a burst of shine revealing the 7 ribbon logo with "network" below. The copyright fades in at the bottom when this occurs.

Variants:

  • There is a version where "production" appears below "network" while the copyright is absent.
  • On Wheel of Fortune, the logo has the show's ending theme trail off while the copyright is absent just like the previous variant.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A single held note, followed by a 4-note synth tune (Seven's on-air jingle at the time) accompanied with a glistening and whooshing sound when the logo is formed and a breezy sound the clouds make.

Audio Variant: Sometimes, the ending theme plays over it.

Availability: Same as the previous logo.

15th Logo (2003-2014)

Visuals: Over a primarily white background, the Seven Network logo zooms back at a quick pace. The background moves and ripples.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A whoosh sound when the "7" is zooming back, followed by an echo of a man's voice singing "Seven" with an electric guitar riff.

Audio Variants:

  • 7Plus copies of All Saints episodes from late season 2 to the end of season 3 have a plastering error where this logo is seen with the 9th logo's audio. Late season 3 episodes also have the audio of the Red Heart logo play under this logo preceding the 9th logo's music, in spite of the former remaining intact in later episodes.
  • Early season 4 episodes of All Saints on 7Plus have this logo with the 11th logo's audio in another case of sloppy plastering.

Availability:

  • It was seen on most shows produced by the Seven Network during this time, with the exception of shows that used split-screen credits.
  • It can be found on the DVD of All Saints.
  • Currently it can be seen on the first season of Border Patrol: Australia's Front Line on Netflix.

16th Logo (2008-2014)

Visuals: There is the Seven logo with a shadow zooming down onto a white background. Small ember like objects move across the screen.

Variants:

  • On Zeke's Pad, the logo is still without a shadow instead.
  • On All for Kids, the background is black.

Technique: CGI animation.

Audio: A sparkle sound effect.

Audio Variants:

  • On Zeke's Pad, it is silent.
  • On All for Kids, the end theme of the show plays over the logo.

Availability: The version on the black background has supposedly only been seen on All for Kids. the version on the white background can be seen on the aforementioned Toy Box, which can be found on 7Plus, it was also used as a breakdown slide on the channel.

17th Logo (2014-)

Visuals: On a black background, there are a bunch of red shards flying around. The red shards fly to the left while a white line forms "Seven Productions". The shards form the 7 logo and settle next to the line.

Variants:

  • Sometimes, the word "Seven Productions" is missing and only the "7" is seen.
  • On shows adapted from Seven Network programs, the text "FORMAT CREATED BY SEVEN NETWORK (OPERATIONS) LIMITED" appears underneath the logo.
  • An in-credit variant exists.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Two beeps, followed by some whooshes, followed by another beep, and then an orchestral finish.

Audio Variant: Sometimes, the ending theme plays over it.

Availability:

  • Can be seen on newer programming produced by the Seven Network and will probably plaster older logos on reruns of classic programmes.
  • This was also oddly spotted at the end of a 7two broadcast of Fawlty Towers in January 2015 (likely caused by the Seven Network's practice of sloppily removing credits on many TV shows and movies).
  • The Seven-only variant can be seen on Netflix prints of Hoges: The Paul Hogan Story and Motown Magic.
  • The "Format Created By" variant was seen on a Seven Network broadcast of Border Security International in October 2023.

18th Logo (2016-)

Visuals: On a black background, there is the Seven logo forming from right-to-left along with the stacked text "SEVEN STUDIOS". After the logo forms, the text "STUDIOS" shines in white. A byline reading "An Original Seven Studios Production", along with a copyright notice appears below the logo.

Variants:

  • A byline-less variant of the logo exists.
  • Sometimes, the copyright notice would be absent.

Technique: CGI by Sam Trevethan and Jamie Carbery at Seven Creative.

Audio: 2 long synth notes, then a soft bang at the end.

Availability: Can be seen on multiple shows by the company.

19th Logo (2019-)

Visuals: On a white background, there is the ribbon 7 in white rising slowly, developing shadows. Then, the text

SEVEN
STUDIOS

rises, also in white. After completely rising, the logo and "SEVEN" slowly turns red, with "STUDIOS" turning black.

Variants: Again, the byline would sometimes appear.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Same as before.

Availability: Seen on some later releases by the company.

20th Logo (February 21, 2022-)

Visuals: On a black background, two red lines appear. They open up, revealing another black background with red layers on the sides. The ribbon 7 logo forms up in the centre. Underneath it, there is a copyright notice.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: The current Seven Network jingle since 2021.

Availability: It appears on recent programs from the channel, which includes SAS Australia starting with season 3.
