Revision as of 09:13, 11 October 2022

These are the logo variations seen on trailer throughout the years by Searchlight Pictures (earlier as Fox Searchlight Pictures), with more to be added overtime.

Fox Searchlight Pictures

Stealing Beauty (1996): The 1996 logo is pillarboxed due to the logo not being well optimized for 2.35:1 or wider aspect ratios.

Smilla's Sense of Snow (1997): The 1996 logo is heavily cropped and is in a colder color tempature. Like on Stealing Beauty, this version is not well optimized for ratios wider than 1.85:1.

Love and Other Catastrophes (1997): The logo is zoomed out further than usual.

Two Girls and a Guy (1998): Same as the Love and Other Catastrophes variant, but with less saturation on the sky.

NOTE: On a few trailers, it'll just use the 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment logo at the time.

Slums of Beverly Hills (1998): The logo is orange with the 2.35:1 version of the News Corporation byline and is pushed to the left.

Polish Wedding (1998): Same as the Two Girls and a Guy variant, but is paler.

Cousin Bette (1998): Same as the Love and Other Catastrophes variant, but it is zoomed out way further than usual.

Note: this variant is the biggest open matte of any Fox Searchlight logo ever exploited. This is so the logo cuts off on the bottom and "floats", a la the 1981 20th Century Fox logo on the TV spot for Short Time.

Among Giants (1999): Same as the Slums of Beverly Hills variant, but the color scheme is brighter and zoomed in a bit.

A Midsummer Night's Dream (1999): The logo is film deteriorated.

Boys Don't Cry (1999): Same as the Slums of Beverly Hills and Among Giants variants, but is centered, in normal darker colors, and flickers to the moon and vice versa and animates really fast. Seen on the VHS trailer. The logo is the same as in the movie itself without the flickering, but normal.

Woman on Top (2000): The logo is zoomed in a lot. Seen on the VHS trailer.

Bootmen (2000): Same as the Cousin Bette variant, but is very slightly zoomed in a tiny bit and is tinted brown.

Quills (2000): Same as the Cousin Bette variant, but it's zoomed in slightly, pushed up a bit, and uses the smaller News Corporation byline.

The Deep End (2001): The logo is intense blue.

Waking Life (2001): It consists of a monkey seen on a stool beside a film projector in an underground building. Then he logo can be seen in wrap-speed projected and turns into a cartoon until it gets a lot more bright.

The Good Girl (2002): The logo is tinted orange and purple.

Another variant has the logo being purely golden except for the sky and searchlights. Seen on the VHS trailer.

One Hour Photo (2002): Same as The Good Girl variant, but is slightly darker. It's also squished.

Brown Sugar (2002): The logo is in a set of circles. Sometimes it shakes and spins a bit, like on the VHS trailer.

Bend It Like Beckham (2002): Same as The Good Girl and One Hour Photo variants, but the color scheme is orange and transitioned by a flying soccer ball.

The Good Thief (2002): The logo is pushed up a bit, it's transitioned by a quick zoom-out, & fades.

28 Days Later (2002): Suddenly, all of the searchlights turn off one by one while we slowly zoom out.

Napoleon Dynamite (2004): The logo is pushed to the left and is therefore offset.

Sideways (2004): Same as the Bend It Like Beckham variant, but the logo cuts in and is pushed down a bit.

Millions (2005): Same as the Quills variant, but it uses the regular version of the News Corporation byline, is pushed up a bit more, and is in the same colors as the Napoleon Dynamite variant.

The Ringer (2005): The logo is black and white.

Roll Bounce (2005): The print logo is made from acid-colored shapes.

Another trailer has the print logo made from the shapes multi-colored.

Night Watch (2006): The logo shakes and jitters a lot, and it's colored blue.

The Hills Have Eyes (2006): The logo has a moss green tint and the searchlights turn on and animate. Note: this was a still image with no searchlights lit except for on the front, same as the 28 Days Later variant but the three searchlights are not in the same animation as the normal logo.

Thank You for Smoking (2006): The logo speeds up and slows down at various intervals and the News Corporation byline is cut off.

Phat Girlz (2006): Same as the Sideways variant, but is pushed up higher a bit than normal.

The History Boys (2006): Same as the Roll Bounce variant, but is colored differently and doesn't zoom in a lot.

I Think I Love My Wife (2007): The prototype 1995 logo is used, zoomed in, and is styled like the animated 1995 logo. The "O" in "FOX" is replaced with a ring.

The Darjeeling Limited (2007): Same as the movie itself.

Day Watch (2007): The logo is pure white and also covered in a blizzard.

Juno (2007): The text from the structure is on a pregnancy test meter.

Slumdog Millionaire (2008): The logo is in a box along with the Warner Bros. Pictures, Celador Films and Film4 logos. Only seen on some TV spots.

The Secret Life of Bees (2008): The logo is tinted blue.

My Life in Ruins (2009): The logo is made of stone and surrounded by ancient columns.

Adam (2009): The camera pans up into space after we see the logo.

Gentlemen Broncos (2009): The logo has two rear searchlights that are lightsabers and the front searchlights shoot lasers that ride on their beams.

My Name Is Khan (2010): The 1995 logo is used. It is also slightly pillarboxed.

Just Wright (2010): Same as The Secret Life of Bees variant, but it's darker.

127 Hours (2010): The logo is exactly the same as in the movie itself, but is brighter.

Another variant has the Gentlemen Broncos variant, but is normal.

The Descendants (2011): The logo is fairly dark.

Sound of My Voice (2012): The logo animates in reverse while it's finished.

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2012): The 1995 logo is used. Seen on one TV spot.

Ruby Sparks (2012): The logo is tinted blue.

Hitchcock (2012): The logo is styled a la the 1953 20th Century Fox logo and it's bylineless. Seen on the international trailer.

Another variant has the 2011 logo slightly zoomed in and pushed up a bit.

Stoker (2013): Same as the Sound of My Voice variant, but the logo animates in reverse while it's "un-finishing".

The East (2013): The logo is glitched with scenes from the movie and The East's symbol (a compass with an "E" on it) is visible.

Another variant has the logo glitching with The East's symbol glitching on the logo.

The Way Way Back (2013): Same as the Sound of My Voice variant, but with vivid colors like the movie itself.
