Background

Les Studios Tex was the French subsidiary of DIC Entertainment. The studio was named after the titular character of The Wacky World of Tex Avery.

1st Logo (September 29, 1997-October 21, 1999)

Visuals: Against a pink-purple sunburst, we see the head of a grinning cartoon man wearing a comically-large cowboy hat; this is actually the head of Tex Avery, the aforementioned titular character of The Wacky World of Tex Avery. The text "LES STUDIOS TEX" arranged in an arc fashion in red is above Tex's hat. Everything is encased in a rope arranged to form a square.

Trivia: The logo is modeled after the opening title card of The Wacky World of Tex Avery.

Technique: None.

Audio: Varies depending on the show:

  • On The Wacky World of Tex Avery, there is a cartoonish "BONK!" followed by Tex Avery (voiced by Billy West) yelling "Ouch!"
  • On Sonic Underground, it's silent.

Availability: Seen on the infamous series the logo was named after, The Wacky World of Tex Avery, as well as on Sonic Underground. On the latter show, it was plastered on BKN airings and on a few DVD/VHS releases.

2nd Logo (October 2, 1999-August 30, 2000)

Visuals: On a white background, there is a crude drawing of Tex Avery in bluish-gray, with his head being far larger than his body, and he appears to be riding a horse. Bluish-gray text reading "LES STUDIOS TEX" in an arc fashion is seen over Tex's hat.

Trivia: The design of Tex Avery used in this logo is an earlier version of his design from The Wacky World of Tex Avery.

Variant: On the feature-length VHS Archie's Weird Mysteries: Archie & The Riverdale Vampires, Tex's hat is a darker blue and his face is white. The entire logo quickly zooms in and out like a trampoline once.

Technique: None. Zooming effects for the variant.

Audio: Same as the previous logo's The Wacky World of Tex Avery audio variant. For the variant, a horse neighing and a boing sound are heard instead.

Availability: Seen on Archie's Weird Mysteries. Strangely, re-airings of Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century on the now-defunct DIC Kids Network syndicated block, the now-defunct Qubo, and most international airings also used this logo, even though the company never produced the series.

3rd Logo (November 10, 2003-February 3, 2004)

Visuals: On a black background, the letters "LST" in white emerge from a flash of light. Also in white, the text "LES STUDIOS TEX" fades in while a bar appears between the "LST" and the company name. The bar shines.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: A synth whoosh that holds out.

Availability: Seen on Sabrina's Secret Life.
