Background
IFC Films is the film unit of American television channel IFC, who at the time of the studio's founding was known as Independent Film Channel. The studio was originally formed by Rainbow Media, a subsidiary of Cablevision Systems Corporation. On July 1, 2011, Rainbow Media was spun-off to become AMC Networks Inc. While the studio released its first films in 1999 and 2001, they did not use a logo until the release of My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
