Background

Founded in January 1998, Gathering of Developers (aka GodGames and later Gathering) was a company created as a relationship-based publisher that aimed to treat its developers with respect. Many independent developers were consolidated with GoD. Take-Two Interactive Software purchased the company and some of its developers in May 2000. Since this point, Gathering became just a publishing division, until it was discontinued in 2004 and its assets were moved into Global Star Software (later part of 2K Games as "2K Play").

1st Logo (May 7, 1998-June 30, 2000)


Logo: In a bright flash, the logo appears, reading "GATHERING OF DEVELOPERS". The tails of the first "G" and last "S" are extended to cover the logo like two arcs. When the logo is complete, a light appears around, but the logo's surface remains black.

Variant: On Railroad Tycoon II for the Dreamcast, a steam locomotive arriving to a train station is seen inside an oval space. The logo fades onto the footage, then the footage fades out, leaving only the logo.

FX/SFX: Light effects.

Music/Sounds: A "fsshh" sound of light splash, followed by a quiet humming entry.

Music/Sounds Variant: The Railroad Tycoon variant has the train whistling, followed by the quiet humming.

Availability: Seen on Jazz Jackrabbit 2 and other games.

Logo: The logo consists of a white man's head with two stylized wings at the sides. Under the head, the name "GODGAMES" is written with an underline. Below, the text "Gathering of Developers" is seen.

FX/SFX: None.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Extremely rare, as many games made in this time period didn't have this logo at all. Seen on Kiss Pinball, 4x4 Evo, Serious Sam and Stronghold.

5th Logo (March 26, 2003-March 21, 2005)

Logo: Another stylized version of the blue gradient head with its "arms" connected with an arc. The word "GATHERING" below is white in a custom font.

FX/SFX: None, or the zooming out.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Uncommon. Can be found on Hidden & Dangerous 2, Vietcong and its add-ons, Wings of War, and the North American version of Destruction Derby Arenas.
