I have just finished enabling the Page Translation extensions. To have a page marked for translation, simply add <translate> tags to the article at the top and bottom. Then message an admin to have them complete the process. After this, you will be able to write a translated version of the page in the language of your choice. See This page from MediaWiki.org for more information on this. Also see CLG:LANG more details on the implementation of this in our community.

I think that expanding our site across the language barrier is a huge step in inclusivity for us as a community which we never really had the technical ability to take before now. It will bring in a whole new audience and allow them to engage with the wiki in a way they never could before.

UPDATE: I've just tweaked the permissions so anyone can mark a page for translation. You will no longer need to get an admin to assist with this step

I honestly agree with that.

By the way, I made my first translation of a page. Presenting, the Paramount Television Service page in Finnish!

Also, is there a way to translate the credits? Just wondering ^^

This has been a wish for me for a while. Thanks for implementing this!

@VPJHuk: It's just a matter of translating that template in the same way you did the page, then tweaking your translated page to reference the translated version, so in your case, once you've translated the template, change it from PageCredits to PageCredits/fi on the translated article.

Is there a way to have the translated versions not appear on the search suggestions? I feel like they could clog up the search suggestions and prevent other pages from showing up.

Just a quick reminder to make sure you're adding <languages/> at the bottom when tagging a page for translation so the language navigation box appears and people can actually view the translations.
