Background

Dacia is a Romanian vehicle manufacturer owned by Renault. It was founded as UAP (Uzina de Autoturisme Pitești) in 1966 and started expanding to international markets in the 1960s.

1st Tag (2002-2003)

Visuals: The at-the-time current Dacia logo (the Dacia wordmark within a blue shield) fades in alongside its slogan "Pe drumul cel bun", placed under it.

Technique: Computer-generated 2D graphics.

Audio: The commercial's music or none.

2nd Tag (2003-2008)

Visuals: The Dacia wordmark can be seen on a black background, with a Renault byline below it.

Variants:

  • In early 2008, an ad featuring the Dacia logo on a white background was used instead.
    • In Germany, this commercial had its German website URL shown instead of the emblem.
  • During 2008, the Dacia emblem shines, after which the Romanian Football Federation logo is formed (the ball zooms in, the stripes surrounding it spin around and the text fades in afterwards), alongside the existing Dacia wordmark at the right and the text "Partener oficial al echipei naționale de fotbal" moving in a wave. Eventually, the Football Federation logo fades out, alongside the text below both it and the Dacia logo, to which the latter moves to the left. The Renault byline from the main logo fades in the same location as usual.

Technique: Computer-generated 2D graphics.

Audio: The commercial's music or none.

3rd Tag (2008-2015)

Visuals: The newer Dacia emblem is gradually placed on a blue background, in which a shine is seen on top of it.

Variants:

  • Various commercials feature the endtag set in different aspect ratios.
  • A sped up version exists.
  • Before the logo was finalized, it was initially more zoomed out than usual. This adaptation of the endtag never aired on television.
    • A sped up version of this prototype can also be found.
  • Usually, outside of Romania, the Renault byline fades below the logo. This is absent in some endcaps.
    • In the United Kingdom, instead of the byline its slogan "You do the maths" gradually unblurs itself while the Dacia emblem moves.
  • Shortly after the 2008 Dacia logo was launched, the Romanian Football Federation endtag from earlier that year was redone. Besides the new emblem and wordmark taking the place of the 2002 ones, the endtag is now set on a blue background. The "Partener oficial al echipei naționale de fotbal" text's font was replaced by Neo Sans, while the byline became uppercase.
    • A 16:9 variant of the endtag exists.
  • During 2009, the previously mentioned football endtag was improvised again, featuring the animation of the regular logo (set in 4:3) with the Renault byline fading below it. The byline fades out a few seconds later, then a football followed by the "Partener oficial al echipei naționale de fotbal" text slide from the left.

Technique: Computer animation.

Audio: A "whoosh" noise, sometimes accompanied by the commercial itself.

Audio Variants:

  • Sometimes, the whoosh can be lower pitched.
  • In the sped up endtag, the whoosh is slightly cleaned up.
  • In the United Kingdom endtags, the whoosh is completely absent and is replaced by a narrator speaking the brand's slogan.
  • In the 2009 football endtag, after the normal endtag's sound finishes a sports fan chant can be briefly heard.

4th Tag (2015-January 14, 2021)

Visuals: On a blue background, lighter than the one from the previous logo, the outline of the Dacia logo is gradually revealed. Afterwards, the redone version of the 2008 emblem fades in.

Variants:

  • Like the previous logo, the endcap can be seen in other aspect ratios.
  • Sometimes, the endtag is cut off early.
  • An endtag featuring the Dacia logo being much more zoomed in than usual also exists. This version was more prevalent on its YouTube channels.

Technique: Computer animation.

Audio: A musical "hey" chant, followed by an echoing chord.

5th Tag (November 2020-January 14, 2021)

Visuals: On an intense blue background, there is the Dacia wordmark slightly zooming in and out.

Variants:

  • On some commercials, instead of zooming in/out the logo would instead just fade in.

Technique: Computer animation.

Audio: An echoed bell noise or the previous logo's audio.

6th Tag (January 14, 2021-)

Visuals: On an olive background, there are a "D" and "C" set in the new Dacia font sliding in from the left and right respectively until they connect. They then separate once again and move around to form the Dacia wordmark.

Variants:

  • Like the other endtags, the aspect ratio may vary.
  • In Romania, after the wordmark's animation is finished its slogan "O TREABĂ BUNĂ" fades in below.

Technique: Computer animation.

Audio: A short whoosh at the beginning, followed by drum sounds.
