Background

Double Helix Games was a development studio located in Irvine, California. It was established on October 9, 2007 when Foundation 9 Entertainment announced they would merge The Collective and Shiny Entertainment into a new outfit. The company received its name selected from a pool of submissions from the team members on March 27, 2008. In 2014, the company was purchased by Amazon.com, and it was absorbed into Amazon Game Studios.

1st Logo (2007-2011)

Logo: We see a white box with "DOUBLE HELIX / GAMES" written on its lower side. Inside the box, we can see the stylized image of a DNA spiral.

Variants:

  • On Front Mission Evolved, the logo is shown through the opening sequence, carved on a shellcase.
  • On Silent Hill: Homecoming, the byline "A Foundation 9 Entertainment Studio" appears under the logo.

FX/SFX: None.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Seen on MX vs ATV Reflex and Silent Hill: Homecoming. The custom version was used on Front Mission Evolved.

Logo: We see a batch of shining silver blocks flying to the screen and rotating in action to form the new DNA structure logo: two quarter-circles of the spiral connected with their lines. The name "DOUBLE HELIX" zooms under the DNA, and "GAMES" fades in the second line. The cloudy background then clears to black.

Variants:

  • On Green Lantern, the logo is tinted green and just zooms in.
  • On Battleship, the logo is metallic.

FX/SFX: The logo forming and zooming in. For the Green Lantern variant, the green flushing behind the logo.

Music/Sounds: Background metallic sounds.

Availability: Seen on Green Lantern and Battleship (made after the Hasbro-licensed movie with the same name), among other games.
