Background

Colossal Pictures was an entertainment company that developed and produced television programming, advertising, network branding, and visual effects. Colossal's work has won every major industry award, from the Clio, Emmy and Grammy to the Cannes Gold Lion and Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences Top Honor.

On August 31, 1999, Colossal Pictures closed after 23 years in business. The decision was made in order to liquidate property and honor outstanding debts. Many of Colossal Pictures' employees, such as Ed Bell, Charlie Canfield, and George Evelyn moved to WildBrain as a result.

1st Logo (June 2-30, 1991)

Logo: On a black background, we see the words "(COLOSSAL) PICTURES" in indigo. There is a little bit of static and the screen is wavy.

FX/SFX: The static.

Music/Sounds: The ending theme of Liquid Television.

Availability: Rare. Can be found on season 1 of Liquid Television.

2nd Logo (1992-1997)

Nickname: "The Sign On Fire"

Logo: We see a black and white clip of a sign on fire, with a green dot on it. The words "(COLOSSAL) PICTURES" squeeze between the stop sign, and a smiley face appears in the middle of the screen.

Variant: Sometimes, the dot is orange, and the face's eyes fall off.

FX/SFX: Live-action.

Music/Sounds: The ending theme of Liquid Television, industrial-sounding music with horns (on (Colossal) Pictures demo reels), or playful synth music (on some Liquid Television episodes).

Availability: Rare. Seen on seasons 2 and 3 of Liquid Television, and (Colossal) Pictures' 1992, 1994 and 1996 demo reels.

Editor's Note: The footage, face on the sign and overall concept of the logo can be unsettling for some people.
