Penguin Home Video

From the Audiovisual Identity Database, the motion graphics museum

1st Logo (1982-1987)

Visuals: On a black background, two images come from the top and bottom of the screen. They merge to reveal the text "Penguin HOME VIDEO", with "PENGUIN" in a Blippo Black font, with a penguin on the side of the text, on a blue background. It ends the same way it begins, but in reverse.

Technique: 2D animation.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on Tell Me Why Volume V: Insects.

2nd Logo (1982-Mid 1980s)

Visuals: On a black background, a live-action clip of a penguin "flips" into the screen. In the clip, the penguin is looking around, turning its head. The text "Penguin HOME VIDEO", from the previous logo, is superimposed onto the screen, with what looks like an abstract penguin drawing on the right. All the text and the penguin symbol are in yellow. Then it "flips" out.

Technique: Live-action and 2D animation.

Audio: A big-band synthesizer tune played at a low volume.

Availability: Seen on old workout videos from Pat Boone in the 1980s. [Examples?]
