Background

Genre Films, usually credited as Kinberg Genre, is a production company founded in 2010 by screenwriter/producer/director Simon Kinberg.

Logo (September 21, 2016-)

Visuals: There is a blurred close-up of a typewriter's hammer in action. The camera cuts to the paper, on which the last letters in "Kinberg" are being typed. When the "g" is written, the preceding letters dissolve and the bottom of the "g" turns into a spinning film reel. A black box expands and takes over the "g", turning it white as the stacked name "KINBERG GENRE" in Futura Bold wipes in below.

Variants:

  • On The 355, the name reads "SK GENRE".
  • On television shows, the logo is either shortened or still.
  • On Legion and The Gifted, the print logo shares the screen with the Bad Hat Harry Productions and Donners' Company logos.

Technique: CGI animation by Blur Studio.

Audio: Typewriter noises followed by a film projector running. Sound design by Michael Gatt. Otherwise, it's the closing theme of the show.

Availability: Seen on The 355 and Lift. It also appears on the television shows Designated Survivor, Legion, The Gifted, The Twilight Zone (2019), and Invasion.
