Background

BBC Nordic is a subscription channel serving the Nordic region. The channel was launched on 17 April 2023 and replaced BBC Brit and BBC Earth in said region.

(April 17, 2023-)

Visuals: Depends on the ident. Each ident has a thin diagonal line of light in the center, alongside the BBC logo and either "Nordic" or "Nordic+" (with an N shape indenting the plus) appearing at the top and bottom, respectively.

Variants: So far, there are four idents:

  • Water: There is a view of the sea at evening. A diagonal line forms at the center before flying around, spawning a trail. The line flies back to its original position as the trail merges.
  • Stone: In a dark room with a staircase at the right and light being emitted, a cut stone structure emerges from the floor, and faces towards the camera.
  • Woodland: There is multiple yellow lights (possibly fireflies) floating around in a woodland. Some of the lights disappear, while some of them come together and fly around one of the trees, before forming the line at the center of the screen.
  • Stage: Multiple spotlights on a stage emit red light to form the line. The spotlights turn toward the camera before turning off. Glowing dust then appears in the background, making the stage more clear for a brief time, and the spotlights turn back on.

Technique: CGI by weareseventeen.

Audio: The sequence starts of with a note and a tune depending on a variant. It ends with a held electronic note.

Audio Variants:

  • Water: A calm, electronic tune.
  • Stone: The first note is played with an electronic piano, followed by a few synth-like notes.
  • Woodland: The first note is played with an electronic piano, followed by a four-note xylophone tune. Birds can be heard chirping in the background.
  • Stage: There is a crowd cheering, followed by a held electric guitar note and six drum noises in the background. Another electric guitar note is then heard, along with clapping sounds from the crowd.
