Background

44 Blue Productions is a television company that was founded in 1984.

1st Logo (February 9, 1985-1992)

Visuals: On a blue gradient background, there is "44 BLUE PRODUCTIONS" in a stenciled font tilted to the left with a copyright stamp underneath.

Variants:

  • There exists a later version where the logo is in a purple color scheme.
  • A superimposed variant exists where it also includes the company's place of origin on the bottom right (San Francisco).

Technique: A still, computerized graphic.

Audio: The ending theme of the show.

Availability: This was on Bob Eucker's Wacky World of Sports and Great Moments in College Bowl History.

2nd Logo (1995-2002)

Visuals: On a water background, there is "44" and "BLUE" with a shiny texture zoom out from the right and left respectively. When they've stopped zooming out, the water background fades to black and then "PRODUCTIONS" in white fades in. Meanwhile, "44 BLUE" is masked to show a portion of the water background.

Variant:

  • A short variant exists with the logo already formed.
  • On Special Report: Journey to Mars, the logo is superimposed into the last shot of the end credits before the background fades to black.

Technique: CGI overlayed on live-action footage.

Audio: A choir singing with several bass notes leading up to a reverb drum hit. Sometimes, it's the ending theme of the show.

Availability: Seen on shows like Water Ready, Ghosthunters, and The Christopher Lowell Show.

3rd Logo (2002-2021?)

Visuals: On an underwater background with moving, wavy lines, there is a blue rectangle with a thick, curved line inside next to "44 BLUE" and "PRODUCTIONS" fading with via a ripple effect. When the logo fully appears with no transitions, it shines from the left with "PRODUCTIONS" also zooming in slowly.

Variants:

  • A short version exists.
  • An early version exists until 2009 where the wavy lines are different.
  • Starting in 2017, the byline was added reading "a RED ARROW ENTERTAINMENT GROUP Company and appears underneath the logo.
  • Starting in 2019, the logo was reanimated with sleeker effects,
  • Also in that year, the byline was changed now reading "A Red Arrow Studios Company".
  • On Rock and a Hard Place, the logo is next to the Seven Bucks Productions logo.

Technique: 2D computer effects.

Audio: A vibrating bell sound throughout the logo with other sounds seemingly played in reverse as the logo shines. Otherwise, it's silent.

Availability: Still common. Seen on shows from this period such as Lockup, Stringers LA, and Jailbirds.

4th Logo (September 24, 2021-)

Visuals: The screen zooms out of a white background to see a blue rectangle with a wavy line splitting the shape which has a water effect to it. The shape flashes to a flatter version of itself (which is similar to the design of the previous logo) and zooms out to show the company's name as well as the byline in blue.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: None or the ending theme of the show.

Availability: This can be seen on Jailbirds New Orleans, The Real Murders of Atlanta, and Life After Death with Tyler Henry.
