Background

In 2006, IDT was purchased by Liberty Media (the owner of the Starz cable network), and IDT became Starz Media (now Starz Distribution); the following year, Anchor Bay Entertainment was renamed to "Starz Home Entertainment", only for it to revert back to its original name in 2008.

1st Logo (2007)

Visuals: On a black background, there is a logo similar to the Starz Productions and Starz Animation logos of the time, only with "HOME" and "ENTERTAINMENT" being seen below "STARZ".

Variants:

  • On the trailer for Highlander: The Search for Vengeance, the logo is in black on a dark background with red smoke (or fire) in the middle. The logo slowly zooms out.
  • On the DVD trailer for Phonics 4 Babies, the square with the star and the text is black, and the purple gradient slides down from behind the logo.
  • On the DVD of Eloise in Hollywood, the background is in white.
  • On the DVD of Hellboy: Animated - Blood & Iron, the square with the star is green.

Technique: A still, digital graphic. 2D computer animation for the variants.

Audio: None. On the trailer for Highlander: The Search for Vengeance, the opening theme of the trailer. On the DVD trailer for Phonics 4 Babies, the woman says "Only from Starz Home Entertainment".

Availability: It was seen on the DVDs of Eloise in Hollywood, Hellboy: Animated: Sword of Storms and Hellboy: Animated - Blood & Iron. It has also been seen in a trailer for Highlander: The Search for Vengeance, along with the Manga Entertainment logo, and the DVD trailer for Phonics 4 Babies.

2nd Logo (2007-2008)

Visuals: Essentially just the 2005 Starz logo with "HOME ENTERTAINMENT" below.

Variant: A version with a white star exists.

Technique: A still, digital graphic.

Audio: None.

Availability:

  • It can be seen on a few British Manga Entertainment releases such as Naruto, Bleach, and Death Note. On some releases, the then-current Anchor Bay logo proceeds after that.
  • It's also found on the DVD of Kappa Mikey: Lost in Transportation.
  • Also appears on the UK DVD of Inspector Gadget's Biggest Caper Ever!.
  • Very certain prints of a few Thomas and Friends DVDs around this time also had this logo.
