Before starting this topic, I'm going to tell you what basically a Big Lipped Alligator Moment (Or BLAM) is, it's a term precisely used for bizarre and surreal scenes with no context in a totally normal film, after this scene, the film returns to normal as if nothing had happened , my example is an adventure film about chocolate that out of nowhere there is a musical about a meat monster who wants to eat chocolates, and then disappears after that musical. If you want to know more about this term, visit [https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BigLippedAlligatorMoment this] TVTropes page. Okay, let's start this topic, basically, it's a thread for logos that have BLAM in them, this most commonly seen are some logos considered "scary", and I'll start making my list: 1- Zombastic Productions, Inc. This logo has one of the most bizarre contexts created by a human being, basically, it is a logo that takes place in a space background, and out of nowhere there is a skull with eyes that then stares at you on the screen, then out of nowhere, a doctor's hand appears with a syringe full of Pepto Bismol and places it in the skull's left eye, and then the skull screams in pain looking like it wants your help. This part will have you screaming "''WT* DID I JUST WATCH IN MY MOVIE?!''". Yes, this logo was intentional for their company, but considering that the movie that has this logo, being ''Die You Zombie Bastards!'' it almost doesn't have the same essence as the logo. 2- Vadimon Video My personally favorite logo and especially being my persona (I'm called Mr. Vadimon in some places). This one also has a BLAM, and this one will make more sense, this logo also takes place on a space background and out of nowhere, a pair of eyes open and then disappear for some photos of planets. Is it a BLAM? Yes! A LOT, it only gets worse because this logo even appeared in a children's film! Now I feel sorry for the Spanish children in the late 70s who had nightmares when they saw those eyes. It's a Zombastic version 1.0, but the logo is really good because of the ''aesthetic'' music it has, with that catchy jazz. 3- Pony Canyon This one will burn your eyes, I don't even know how to describe this logo mainly because there's a lot of psychedelic junk in it, but the CGI and the music were good for the time, if you want to see this logo search on YouTube. Oh, there's a comment on this upload of this logo from someone saying "A Big Lipped Alligator Logo!", which made me inspirate to create this topic , wow! 4- Delirium Films THIS IS A 100% BLAM, THIS IS THE BIGGEST BLAM THERE IS! Sorry for the shouting. This logo is the biggest cocaine trip ever, a sun eating clouds with legs in a Tim Burton-esque forest with eyes in the trees that are straight out of the dream scene from ''Spellbound'', with the final scene of the clouds biting the poor cloud, and when the name of the company appears, you can that the trees no longer have eyes because they died of "''Oh no, we couldn't help the clouds!''", and then the cloud's pairs of shoes fall to the ground, causing ALL the sun-eaten clouds to die. This logo.... I won't say more, the company's filmography is literally non-horror films that won awards, so using this logo as their business card for award-winning films is an exaggeration. Here it is! Thanks for reading my thread, I was also wondering if you have any other logos that you consider to be BLAM, if so, I'll let you know!
I'll try to have a go at this: 1- Hikon Film Co.- First, you have a group of men chanting "Hikon, Hikon", and it gets even worse for the variant where the name "A Hikon Film" is shouted almost to the point of distortion. 2- Cockney Rebels Specials (the adult VHS distributor)- The nudity/semi-nudity content isn't really unexpected for an adult logo, but the way the company's name rapidly zooms in and out of the camera.
Here's mine (they're mostly the same, unfortunately): 1. Zombastic Productions, Inc. This is pretty much for the same reasons as the creator of this thread. Also, it's literally a lesson in how ''not'' to take Pepto-Bismol (if that pink liquid ain't Pepto, I don't know what it is). 2. Pony Canyon (2nd logo) I don't know how to describe whatever this logo really is. Just watch it, I dare you. 3. Delirium Films (1st logo) As the thread's creator said, this logo was attached to award-winning non-horror films, so why was this made to begin with? And the entire "storyline" of the logo is just bizarre. 4. Hikon Film Distributors Just hearing men chanting "Hikon, Hikon, Hikon..." would simply make this logo creepy, but it becomes incredibly bizarre visually. 5. Photo Video (1st logo) Not a truly bizarre logo, but everything that happens will either give you a seizure or just have you screaming "WHAT THE HELL DID I JUST WATCH?!" Also, it's lengthy, so you'll have to have enough patience to watch the whole logo from start to finish.
Just stumbled upon this topic now, should've looked on the forum better! I was specifically searching weird logos to cover for a logo show project of mine. I'd personally add the [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDacHaB8hKE StudioCanal logo from 2001 to 2003] (SEIZURE WARNING, but that ain't surprising as Canal+ already has a story of having flashing idents at the time) to the list. The one in space with the tribal chants. It's... Unique, to say the least. The Helltimate Studio logo too is a great contender for a Big Lipped Alligator logo. It looks like that kind of weird video you'd find when lost on YouTube. I don't know if Klasky-Csupo's Splaat would count as a weird logo (to me it would), same goes for SuperVideo with how psychedelic the poor animation looks in it. As for the rest that was already quoted, more specifically Hikon and Zombastic, these are some of the trippiest logos I've seen. Albeit I find the Zombastic skull's "NOOOOO! AAAAARGH!" to be pretty funny.
{{quote|Albeit I find the Zombastic skull's "NOOOOO! AAAAARGH!" to be pretty funny.}} Yes I know that's your opinion, but seriously, when I hear those screams, it gives me goosebumps to hear, which literally matches the disturbing design of the Skull, with those soulless eyes, There's literally even a jumpscare at the end, with the skull turning gold and literally going towards the screen with some cheesy editing. I even had nightmares about it! (Jesus Christ). Even the name of the company "Zombastic" I already get the creeps remembering my disturbing experience with this certain logo. By the way, It's actually nice to meet you! Oh, and for Klasky Csupo, for me it's a BLAM because appeared in the finales of children's shows made by the company, like in the final half of the season of Rugrats, even though I'm not afraid of the logo, I actually like it!
I get what you mean, with the soulless stare the skull has and the cheesy zoom towards us when he turns into a white flash of light. But I'd take this over the bane of my teenage years existence, that one screamer prank with the VID mask. I'm getting surprisingly used to it nowadays, but back then it gave me quite a handful of nightmares. And it's annoying to always stumble upon it when looking for anything related to VID or Viacom's V of Doom outside of the wiki... But hey, sometimes ya just gotta roll with it, eh? I also watched the Delirium Films logo as it was quoted here... I don't even know what the heck I just witnessed when looking at this. I think I'll need the brain bleach for this one. And I thought Hikon was trippy! {{quote|By the way, It's actually nice to meet you!}} Nice to meet you too!
