Background

Peacock Productions was the documentary division of NBCUniversal Television. The studio was shut down on March 2, 2020, with NBC News citing changes to its strategies on documentaries.

1st Logo (August 26, 2009-2012)

Logo: Several yellow and white NBC peacock feathers (which has the 1943 NBC logo on it) fall down over a black background, as a white stripe descends from the top. As this happens, another yellow feather comes in from the right of the screen, and curves around a larger yellow feather on the bottom of the screen and lands on the white half of the screen, and the rest of the peacock appears from the feather (the remaining five feathers are also yellow). The white half has also revealed the word "PEACOCK" in Bank Gothic, and another yellow feather curves around the one on the bottom half to reveal "PRODUCTIONS", also in Bank Gothic. By the end of the logo, "NBC" is passing through the white half, and "PEACOCK" is passing through the large yellow feather in the black half. The whole thing is seen through a "vignette" perspective.

Variants: There is also a longer version that starts with two feathers (with the past NBC logos on it) moving around. As the normal logo plays, a yellow NBC peacock logo is showing, and sometimes it says "NBC NEWS PRODUCTIONS" at the end.

FX/SFX: The animations of the feathers.

Music/Sounds: The same music from the NBCUniversal logo.

Availability: First seen on MSNBC's airings of The Kennedy Brothers: A Hardball Documentary, which debuted on August 26, 2009 to coincide with the death of Ted Kennedy. It was also seen on season 1-4 episodes of Caught on Camera.

Legacy: This logo can surprise some who were expecting the NBCUniversal logo.

2nd Logo (2012-2019)

Logo: On a black background, the word "PEACOCK" and the NBC peacock zoom out and each flip from the left. The word "PRODUCTIONS" appears below the logo, followed by a blue flash.

Variants:

• A still version exists.
• On Super Scary Plane Landings, the logo is inside a white box.

FX/SFX: The zoom-out, and the flipping.

Music/Sounds: A chime-heavy version of the generic NBC theme or none.

Availability: Seen on Caught on Camera from season 5 onwards as well as Super Scary Plane Landings.

3rd Logo (2019-2020)

Logo: On a white background, we see the moving squares that forms the stylized letter "P", along with the black NBC peacock. While the background flashes to black, the words "PEACOCK" and "PRODUCTIONS" appears.

FX/SFX: The movement, and the background changing.

Music/Sounds: A 5-note piano tune.

Availability: Seen on Relentless with Kate Snow on Oxygen.
