So something I have been wondering for a time. And BTW, this is pertaining to the opening logo of New Line Cinema. Supposedly the last use of this was on Corina, Corina and the newer CGI logo debuted on Wes Craven's New Nightmare, while the closing version of the 1987 logo appeared on that film as well as Dumb and Dumber and Friday. But then, I saw the Shout Factory Blu-Ray opening of In the Mouth of Madness and it had the 1987 logo (and for the record, the release date of that film was on February 3, 1995). And on VHS prints and the Warner Blu-Ray, it had a newer logo. So I'm wondering, could some of the other late 1994-early 1995 releases have opened with the 1987 logo? I did have this sneaking suspicion for the long time the CGI logo plastered some of the older logos on the original VHS releases from 1994-1995, like The Mask did, which was confirmed to have the 1987 logo on original theatrical prints. And on that note, the 1991 home video logo continued into 1995 as well. So, is this another MGM situation, like with the 1986 logo and possible plasterings on video? |
