Replying to Forum:Implementation of Mascots

As you already know, the RFC for official mascots has passed with flying colors (And also is now the RFC with the most comments as of now). So, AVID has official mascots being our legendary AVID Heroes (plus Jeff). Now that we have them, we need to figure out what to do with them, in other words, how to implement them. We need some ideas.

how about the creators of the mascots make pages based on them to familiarize us with them? They'll be on special "AVID:" pages.

Another idea I've seen on Discord (Puz's idea, specifically) is to add the mascots to disclaimer boxes.

Speaking of, the "no page exists but you can upload it" message could be accompanied by one of the mascots shrugging.

Maybe feature them in our social media posts and headers.

That can work.

Alright, so several users (myself included) have come up with some possible applications for our mascots on the Discord server: * FlashingImages: Ace covers his eye. * Delete: Ace or Vivi throws a piece of paper (the page) into a recycle bin. * DeleteImage: Same as Delete, but the page is replaced by a photo. * BrandNew: Ace or Vivi records on a phone with a "no" circle over them. * Featured: Ace holds up a ribbon with the "A" mark. * Outdated Phone Number: Jeff stares awkwardly at a phone (one of those landlines from the 70s). * MIA: Vivi holds a magnifying glass. * Blocked: Ace or Vivi makes a "stop" gesture and wears a cop hat. Or they could be behind bars, wearing prison colors (either orange or black and white stripes). * Unblocked: Ace or Vivi sprouts wings and flies out of a bird cage, a la the Community Chest Get Out of Jail Free card from Monopoly pre-2008. * UnderConstruction: Ace or Vivi wears construction gear. * PageCleanup: Ace or Vivi sweeps the floor. * DescriptionsIncomplete: Jeff stares awkwardly at a piece of paper and a pencil. * Noise Warning: Ace covers his ears. * NeedsImages: Jeff stares at a pile of photos awkwardly. * PossibleFake: Ace or Vivi goes "hmm..." * VideoCleanup: Ace or Vivi throws a videotape in the trash. * VideosMissing: Ace or Vivi shows us an empty VHS case. * Split: Two smaller Aces (he split in two). * HistoricalImage: Ace or Vivi holds up a CLG logo sign while wearing a Roman toga. * Rules: Vivi could be used for that page.

Surprisingly, Jeff is in 3 out of 21 of all of them. I am proud to call him my son :)

Another idea: the mascots could wear special outfits depending on the occasion; on Christmas, Ace is Santa and Vivi and Jeff are elves, and on Halloween, Ace is dressed as a ghost, Vivi's a witch, and Jeff wears a pumpkin head. Those looks could go on the main page, as well as on social media posts.

I can only imagine what Jeff as a pumpkin would look like. These are great ideas. We now have our what, we just need our when...or as I like to call it, the Waiting Game

The Yellow/blue part of the pyramid is his eye. Wasn't aware this hadn't been established on the wiki

Got another idea: Sockpuppet could show Jeff holding a, well, sockpuppet.

Ace is secretly a multicolored Illuminati person Sockpuppet should be Jeff holding a sockpuppet and smashing it into a keyboard (almost like he is letting the Sock type)

And for other occasions: * Valentine's Day: Ace and Vivi wear Cupid costumes, and Jeff carries a box of chocolates. * St. Patrick's Day: All three mascots wear leprechaun costumes, and Jeff carries a pot of gold. * April Fool's Day: Whatever fits the year's theme. * 4th of July: Ace is dressed as Uncle Sam, Vivi is dressed as Lady Liberty, and Jeff is dressed as George Washington and waves an American flag. * Thanksgiving: Ace and Vivi are pilgrims, and Jeff is a turkey. Jeff also carries a turkey on a platter. * New Year's: Ace wears a tuxedo, Vivi wears a fancy dress, and Jeff wears a top hat and bowtie and blows a party horn.

I bet the page would be called AVID:Mascots

For rules, you should have Vivi holding a pen and writing on a brown sheet of paper (kind of like the Declaration of Independence) And for the Wikifoundry template, I had 2 ideas. One, you can have Ace holding a painbucket, Vivi holding a paintroller, and Jeff covered in red paint. A reference to the logo Two, same as the Historical Image template but the CLG logo is replaced by the Wikifoundry logo

Another idea: Draft template shows Ace writing on a paper.

Here's one for all the Unblock templates except Unblocked itself Unblock reviewed: Ace writes a checkmark on a piece of paper Unblock on hold: Jeff holds an analog clock and looks at it confused Unblock denied: Same as reviewed but the checkmark is replace with an X

I assume why the mascots haven't been implemented yet is because we're all too busy.

Ace is already in a few templates.

I haven't seen him. But whatever, at least I know they've been implemented somewhat.

He's in the PossibleFake template and adult entertainment logos portal.

Here is a idea. We should have some artwork for the AVID: pages. Here are some I came up with If we don't get the Ace and Vivi as cops for Blocked, then they could definitely work for User Reports For Featured Image Nominations, it should be Ace giving the Featured ribbon above to a picture. Community Portal can be Ace standing on a stage (or a crate) talking to a crowd of stickman pictograms Request For Comment could be one of the mascots holding up a picture of a poll. Create a draft and Create a page can both be one of the mascots writing in a book

Here are some for Forum categories and threads First of all, forum itself should have Ace, Vivi, and Jeff on phones like someone talking in a GC. Now onto the categories General Discussion- Ace, Vivi, and Jeff are in a circle talking (like the intro to the Mario Party games) Administrators' Board - Ace, Vivi and Jeff are sitting at a business meeting table and talking with administrator badges. Editing Help - Ace could be sitting at a school desk with a pencil, paper, and apple and raise his hand The Lounge - Vivi could be laying down on a beanbag on her phone. and lastly, Logo News and Discoveries - Jeff could just be sitting in a gaming chair looking at his desktop screen just in plain udder shock. My idea is that the screen faces from behind but if you have it forward, you can make some little sketch of a rare logo on the screen like the TAT star landing or something

Maybe we could also put Ace and/or Vivi in the Tutorial Guide. I imagine a scene where Jeff accidentally makes a muddy mess, and they clean it up.

I also forgot to mention Featured Threads too. I can't find them all so I will go through the ones now. This prob wont happen given the fact that there just threads, but still. If it doesn't end up happening, I got a backup plan: Other featured threads just have Ace holding a phone with an AVID ribbion Warner Media, Discovery to merge. - Ace and Vivi could be each holding a puzzle piece, one with a WM on it in a writing based off the WarnerMedia logo, and another having the Discovery "D and Globe logo. Surprise Logo Discoveries - Same as Logo News & Discoveries. Maybe have Jeff even more shocked. Preparing for a new CLG Wiki - We can have the 3 mascots on a bus with the AVID logo on it and waving at a sign with the CLG logo on it. Implementation of Draft system & Should we ditch nicknames? - The 3 mascots can be lined up and putting a vote inside a ballot box. Unrelated, I know it's not technically a template, but Archive could have a stone statue of Ace

For the PageCleanup template, we should have Jeff sweeping lilypads
