Forum:Do we need to worry about the new MediaWiki upgrade?

I know the decisions aren't final by the time I'm making this forum, but just in case to wonder, will there be important stuff removed here? I'm just curious to know. |

Just had a look at the list. We aren't using any of the extensions mentioned as being disabled. As far as I can tell we don't need to worry about any changes. |

Well, it just gets scarier. Changes won't get saved as far as I know, so we need to act quick on this. |

Now above it, says "Miraheze will be upgrading to the latest version of MediaWiki, MediaWiki 1.38, on Wednesday, 15 June 2022 from 20:00 UTC to approximately 22:00 UTC. During this time, you won't be able to make changes to your wiki. Please make sure to save any edits at least 5 minutes before the upgrade begins." I already saved my edits before that. |

It's a week away. No need to worry right now. Besides. Mediawiki updates tend to be fairly smooth and painless. Just a an hour of 2 of downtime and that's it. We just have to have our edits done 5 minutes before they start updating. |

20:00-22:00 PM is 4:00-600 AM in my country. So I'll be just asleep during all of that. |

Didn't notice, maybe because I might be semi-inactive on this wiki. Now I'm imagining no one listening to this message lol. |
