1st Logo (March 31, 1998-2012)

Logo: We see a movie reel countdown that starts at "4". After the "4", we cut to the MTV logo in a white circle against a blue background. A greater-than sign is next to it, which moves to the right revealing ">news: docs" and flies off screen.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: Three record scratches, a man saying "What up, doc?" and two more record scratches.

Avalibility: Seen on True Life and Diary.

2nd Logo (November 12, 2012-)


Logo: We see a hanging lightbulb turned on in a dimly lit room. "mtv news & docs" and a copyright notice, along with the MTV logo buzzes in below the bulb.

Technique: Live-action.

Audio: A lightbulb buzz sound, sometimes interfered with a continuity announcer.

Availability: Seen on Catfish: The TV Show and other documentary series produced by MTV.
