Background
Derek Savage Productions is a film production company founded by filmmaker Derek Savage. It is known for producing the infamous film Cool Cat Saves the Kids.
1st Logo (Late 1990s-2004)
Visuals: After a flash, a yellow thunderbolt slides down to the bottom-right corner of the screen. Then, after another flash, a second thunderbolt slides down to the bottom-left corner. With a third flash, a third thunderbolt stays in the center, with the text "Derek Savage Productions" in Arial Black zooming out into position. Then the words "PLAY MOVIE Again!" (in Times New Roman) appear, along with a red button and purple frame. All of this happens against a black background.
Trivia: This logo also appears as a GIF on the bottom of webpages on Savage's website.
Technique: Flash animation by Jason Gullifer.
Audio: The sounds of thunder.
Availability: Only seen on the Trolly the Trout cartoon. The GIF version still appears on Savage's website.
2nd Logo (2005-2015)
Visuals: In front of a blue sky background, a rotating Earth globe slowly zooms into the screen, with a sun behind it. The clouds fade into a night sky, and a thunderbolt strikes the globe, causing it to explode, and the words "Derek Savage Productions" to zoom in, in a white Arial Black font. After a few seconds, the wordmark zooms in, covering the screen in white. Throughout the logo, the words "skip intro" (in the same font) are in the bottom right corner, along with a play icon.
Technique: A mix of 2D computer animation, CGI and live-action.
Audio: A wind sound, followed by the sounds of a thunderbolt and a explosion.
Availability: Only seen on the Derek Savage website around this time.
3rd Logo (February 1, 2015-)
Visuals: A similar concept to the previous logo. A rotating Earth globe zooms into the screen against a time-lapsed cloud background, with a sun appearing behind it. The sky fades into a darker, monochrome shade, and the planet explodes, with the text in Arial:
Derek Savage
Productions
zooming into the screen (with a chrome texture), in front of the explosion. After a few seconds, the letters fly apart in different directions.
Variants:
- On The Savage Crime Show, the logo is shortened to just Earth exploding and the wordmark appearing.
- On Cool Cat Saves the Kids: Director's Cut, the logo cuts off before the letters fly away.
Technique: A mix of 2D computer animation, CGI and live-action.
Audio: A wind noise, followed by an explosion sound.
Audio Variants:
- On Gun Self-Defense for Women, its recuts, and The Savage Crime Show, an orchestral fanfare is added.
- On Cool Cat Saves the Kids: The Director's Cut, part of the song "Cool Cat is Cool" (written by Derek Savage, composed by Nick White, and performed by Linda Hopkins) from the Family Time Entertaianment and 123 Films logos is heard at the very beginning.
