Background

Canal 8 (LV82 TV) is a local television channel from the province of San Juan which was launched in 1964. It is nowadays owned by Grupo America.

1st ID (1985-1986)

Note: Logo begins at 0:20.

Visuals: Over a photo of a mountainous landscape, there is a red "8" shrinking and expanding. Once it stops, it disappears and the orange words "LV 82 CANAL 8 TV San Juan" rise up from behind one of the mountains. This text also disappears, and is followed by the word "REPETIDORAS" ("REPEATERS" in Spanish) and the other stations' names and signals ("CANAL 6 JACHAL", "CANAL 6 BARREAL", and "CANAL 8 CALINGASTA") scrolling up.

Technique: Early computer animation.

Audio: A repeating synth tune, with an announcer saying "LV 82 Canal 8 de San Juan, y sus repetidoras, Canales 6 de Jachal, 6 de Barreal, y 8 de Calingasta en la Republica Argentina." ("LV 82 Channel 8 of San Juan, and its repeaters, Channels 6 of Jachal, 6 of Barreal, and 8 of Calingasta in the Argentine Republic.").

2nd ID (1986-1987)

Note: Logo begins at 0:47.

Visuals: There is the same "8" from the previous logo, but white and bigger, on a gradient multicolored background. Then, it cuts to the channel's name and signal in white on a purple/red gradient background. The screen then cuts to a black background with the words "REPETIDORAS", "CANAL 6 JACHAL", "CANAL 6 BARREAL", and "CANAL 8 CALINGASTA", with a purple and white trail zooming out and stopping behind the text.

3rd ID (1987-1991)

Note: Logo begins at 1:07.

Visuals: On a blue grid floor with some mountains at the background, a golden version of the channel's "8" logo moves to the center, while the words "LV 82", "CANAL" and "SAN JUAN" fly in towards its sides, and the word "TV" rotates and zooms in inside its bottom hole. Then, the station names "CANAL 6 JACHAL", "CANAL 6 BARREAL", and "CANAL 8 CALINGASTA" zoom out and slide away one-by-one.

4th ID (1991-mid/late 1990s)

Visuals: There is the camera ascending through a antenna of red and white bars, with three tricolor ribbons (red, blue and green) also moving towards the upper part. Then, we rotate around the antenna (which is revealed to have some blue pieces at the top), and once the ribbons reach the upper part of the tower, they fly off-screen. The station names "6 jachal", "6 barreal", "8 calingasta", "6 iglesia" and "11 valle fertil" slide around it one-by-one in a circular pattern. The ribbons fly on-screen again, and the screen fades to the ribbons flying through a canyon landscape with some mountain that are shaped like human faces. While this happens, the camera moves towards the moon, which then morphs into the Canal 8 logo from the time, while the text "CANAL" appears above and "San Juan Rep. Argentina" appears below.

Technique: Complex 3D animation, starting from the tricolor ribbons, the tower, the sliding station names, the landscape with the faces, and the moon morphing into the Canal 8 logo, with the rest of the text.

Audio: A futuristic, repeating synth tune, with an announcer saying "Transmite LV 82, Canal 8 Televisión, con sus repetidoras: 6 Jachal, 6 Barreal, 8 Calingasta, 6 Iglesia, 11 Valle Fertil. Desde San Juan, Republica Argentina." ("Transmitting LV 82, Channel 8 Television, with its repeaters: 6 Jachal, 6 Barreal, 8 Calingasta, 6 Iglesia, 11 Valle Fertil.
