AVID:Requests for Comment/Please for the next april fools prank in 2024 make it Pikachu speak!

2024 April fools idea

I was thinking for the website to become Pikachu Speak for 1st of April. A infobar at the top of the homepage on this day will state Vivi's Pikachu broke out of its cage and claimed the domain for AVID, translating it from English to Pikachu Speak. This is the translator: http://pikachizer.eye-of-newt.com/ The translator will not work with URLS, but you can paste the text into the text box. Here is a example: English: Audiovisual Identity Database, Pikachu Speak: Pi-ka-chu-pika pika-pika Pi-kaaa-chu.

  1. Oppose This is a logo documentation site, we won't use Pikachu to avoid copyright claims, if we do an April Fool's Day on the wiki, it's in an RfC from months ago. TPatKB (AKA Mr Vadimon) (this is my talk page) 16:07, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
  2. Oppose The idea of the AVID website having its language changed to Pikachu speak for April Fools is an interesting idea, but 1: AVID is a database for logos. 2: If we use Pikachu this April Fools' Day, Nintendo will sue the website for copyright infringement, and 3: It's too early to make an RfC about April Fools Day 2024 for AVID right now. In fact, I was the first to say that we would suffer copyright claims. TPatKB (AKA Mr Vadimon) (this is my talk page) 16:41, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
  3. Oppose nah blud is gonna sue the entire database (таʟк) - your local toro inoue fanatic 17:02, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
  4. Oppose Per above. Plus, I feel like this is better as a forum post than an RFC. Gilby1385 (talk) 17:03, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
  5. Oppose There are a few reasons why I'm out, and there're all per above:
  • Bad timing (as Shawn pointed out). Making a April Fools' Day 2024 RfC is essentially jumpin' the gun.
  • Copyright claims (pointed out by pretty much everyone). If we use Pikachu for a April Fools' Day prank here, we'll gonna get sued by Nintendo.
  • As Shawn pointed out, this is the Audiovisual Identity Database, not "Pi-ka-chu-pika pika-pika pi-kaaa-chu."

It is a interesting idea, like Shawn said, but I have to agree with everyone's reasons to go against this proposal. --AUnnamedDragon 1:21 PM, October 18, 2023 (CET)
